International Film Festival Announced Being the first major film event since the CoronaVirus pandemic lockdown; The Venice International Film Festival has announced its complete all European members list of the four International Juries (Venezia 77, Orizzonti, “Luigi De Laurentiis” Venice Award for Best Debut Film, Virtual Reality). Given the circumstance of international travel amid the Covid-19 pandemic, choosing an all European jury is reasonable.

Along with jury president Cate Blanchett, Austrian filmmaker Veronika Franz, British Director Joanna Hogg, French actress Ludivine Sagnier, Romanian filmmaker Cristi Puiu, German director Christian Petzold, and, Italian writer Nicola Lagioia will handout the honors to the competition Venezia 77. The jury will award Golden Lion for Best Film, Silver Lion for Best Director, Coppa Volpi for Best Actor, Colpa Volpi for Best Actress, Award for Best Screenplay, Special Jury Prize “Marcello Mastroianni” Award for Best New Young Actor or Actress.

International jury members of the Orizzonti section headed by Claire Denis are Spanish director Oskar Alegria, Italian filmmaker Francesca Comencini, Israeli producer Katriel Schory, and American producer Christine Vachon. The Orizzonti jury will hand out the Orrizonti Award for Best Film, Best Director, Special Orizzonti Jury Prize, Orizzonti award for Best Actor, Orizzonti award for Best Actress, Orizzonti award for Best screenplay, Orizzonti award for Best Short Film.

Piranhas Director Claudio Giovannesi will be the head of “Luigi De Laurentiis” Venice Award for Best Debut Film. Along with Giovannesi will be the new artistic director of the Marrakech International Film Festival Remi Bonhomme, and Tunisian producer Dora Bouchoucha will hand out the award to honor Best Debut Feature Screening in Venice.

VR pioneer Celine Tricart will be the head of the International Jury of the Venice Virtual Reality section. Joined by Oscar-winning documentary director Asif Kapadia and acclaimed video game designer Hideo Kojima will award Grand Jury Prize for the Best VR Immersive Work, Best VR Immersive User Experience, and Best VR Immersive Story.

The 77th Venice International Film Festival, directed by Alberto Barbera and organized by La Biennale di Venezia will open on 2nd September and runs through 12th September.

Chloe Zhao’s “Nomadland” will be the First Film for the 77th Venice International Film Festival.
