Adam McKay’s brand new multi-starred project ‘Don’t Look Up’ has been at the center of discussions repeatedly for the past few days. The filming process initiated in Boston November 19th had come up with immense hue and cry primarily for its stringent protocol followups in the midst of escalating pandemic cases.
Though it was announced that Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence shall play the lead roles, the news about further cast and crew was not officially announced till the last date. The recent update from the director declared that the movie shall witness an addition in cast other than DiCaprio and Lawrence.
The confirmed star-studded cast included Jennifer Lawrence (“The Hunger Games”), Cate Blanchett (“Carol”), Leonardo DiCaprio (“Titanic”), Meryl Streep (“Mamma Mia”), Jonah Hill (“The Wolf of Wall Street”), Timothée Chalamet (“Call Me By Your Name”), singer Ariana Grande, rapper Kid Cudi and Matthew Perry from “Friends,” among many others.
‘Don’t Look Up’ by Adam McKay welcomed new cast on board!
According to the recent reports, Tyler Perry (“Gone Girl”), Melanie Lynskey (“Togetherness”), and Ron Perlman (“Sons of Anarchy”) have joined the cast of “Don’t Look Up,” which began filming in the Boston area last week. All the three have proved their excellence in their career as film stars.
Perry, the media tycoon who produces, writes and directs, did acting duties in McKay’s Vice, playing Gen. Colin Powell. He is repped by WME and Ziffren Brittenham.
Lynskey was one of the stars of HBO’s Togetherness and appeared alongside Blanchett and Rose Byrne, among others, in the Emmy-nominated historical mini-series, Mrs. America. She is repped by Gersh.
Perlman, best known for his work in the Hellboy movies and for TV’s Sons of Anarchy, appeared in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and will appear in Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming thriller, Nightmare Alley. He is repped by Gersh and Link Entertainment.
The plot of ‘Don’t Look Up’ revolves around the discovery of two scientists, played by DiCaprio and Lawrence, regarding an asteroid which is on a collision course earth.When they begin to speak publicly about the imminent danger, they find that no one will take their dire warnings of impending doom seriously.
Directed by Adam McKay (“The Big Short”), “Don’t Look Up” is expected to be in production in the Boston area through at least February 2021.
