During the Walt Disney Company’s Investor Day 2020 presentation, Marvel thrilled fans with updates on upcoming film and television projects including the official confirmation that a third film in the Ant-Man franchise is on the way. Titled Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania.
Recently the Ant-Man star Michelle Pfeiffer has confirmed Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is set for release in 2022. In an Instagram post she shared the film’s logo, Pfeiffer captioned the film “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Coming 2022!” This is the first mention of the film’s expected release date. Kathryn Newton joins the cast as Cassie Lang and Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror.
Pfeiffer will reprise her role as the original Wasp Janet van Dyne from 2018’s Ant-Man and the Wasp and 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. The keyword in the title, Quantumania, seems to indicate audiences are about to see a lot more of that world, an exciting prospect considering the impending multiverse storylines to come. Avengers: Endgame proved that time travel via the Quantum Realm is possible. The alterations and tampering with the space-time continuum within the MCU, along with the supporting multiverse theories could change the dimension of audiences understanding the films.
Directed by Peyton Reed, Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania stars Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, Evangeline Lilly as Hope van Dyne, Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet van Dyne, Kathryn Newton as Cassie Lang and Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror.
