The album has sold over 14 million copies worldwide. On the 10th year of the release, he wrote on Instagram “When “Doo-Wops and Hooligans” came out “Just The Way You Are” had just gone #1. So when the album initially sold poorly, it was considered a flop.

But we kept fighting, pushing, and performing. Now thanks to you, Doo-Wops is the longest-charting debut album ever and has sold over 14 million copies worldwide. There’s your proof that life is a marathon, not a race. As an amazing cherry on top, “Grenade” went diamond just the other day, which makes two diamond singles on the same album. So today we celebrate. To all the Hooligans, thank you for changing my life. I pray we’ll all be dancing together real soon.”
