    Delhi Capitals beats Chennai Super Kings

    In the 34rd match of 2020 IPL, Chennai Super Kings was defeated by Delhi Capitals for 5 wickets. Delhi opener Shikar Dawan made his debut century tonight and took away another victory. DC regained their 1st position in the points table with 14 points. CSK remains at 6th position with six points.

    CSK won the toss and chose to bat, DC bowler Thakur shocked CSK sending back Sam Curren before the run was added to the team score. Then joined experienced players Watson and Du Plessis. They made a good partnership and led the team score to 87 by 11 overs. Nortje made a breakthrough by making Watson bould.

    He scored 36 of 28 balls faced. Du Plessis made another half-century, he was caught by Dhawan in Rabada’s ball. Du Plessis scored 58 of 47 balls. Rayudu joined crease with skipper Dhoni but he skipper was unable to play well as he got out scoring 3 of the 5 balls faced. Jadeja joined Rayudu, both of them punished the DC bowlers and took the team to a decent score of 180 off. Rayudu scored 45 of 25 balls which included 4 sixers, Jadeja also contributed 33 of 13 balls and that included 4 sixers.

    In the second innings, Deepak Chahar put pressure on DC by sending back Prithvi Shaw. But Dhawan played without pressure and kept moving the scoreboard. The new batsman Rahana was not able to find form and he was caught by Sam Curren gifting his wicket to Chahar. Skipper Iyer also played well but got caught by Faf, wicket goes to Bravo. Dawan kept on punishing CSK bowlers and scored his debut 100 in IPL. CSK bowlers managed to take wickets, dismissing Stoinis was a big relief for them. DC was in need of 16 of the last 6 balls. Axer Patel trashed Jadeja hitting 3 sixes and brought victory to his team.

    Loosing this match will affect CSK’s playoff dreams. Currently CSK is at the 6th position, having only 3 victories of the 9 matches played. Now their playoff dreams will also be dependable on other teams performances.
