Elizabeth Olsen says Doctor Strange 2 filming is currently paused. This action is due to the COVID-19 surge in the U.K. The film is one of the most important projects in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 4, as it connects to the upcoming WandaVision and Spider-Man: Homecoming 3. Elizabeth Olsen will reappear as Scarlet Witch in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”, which began production in the U.K. this past fall. It is currently scheduled for a March 2022 release.
Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to promote WandaVision, Olsen briefly discussed her involvement with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Even Though she didn’t open up her mind about her role as Scarlet Witch. But she reveals about the movie’s ongoing pause due to the increase of COVID-19 cases in the UK.

“Since the hospitals are overwhelmed here, we can’t go back to work until that calms down. I’m just safely hanging out here, and just really grateful I get to be working. Disney has kept me busy during quarantine!” – Olsen said. It’s not sure how long the filming will be delayed as per her words. It’s completely based on how things are progressing in the UK. If there is a decrease in the COVID patients in the upcoming weeks the movie can conceivably resume in the near future.
The movie directed by Sam Raimi is scheduled to release in 2022. With this delay, it’s unpredictable about the release on time. Hopefully, one more year is left for the premiere so that things could be managed. But with this COVID nothing can be guaranteed.
