Here’s what makes ‘Spider-Man 3’ to be a Multiverse rollercoaster!
Molina’s casting follows the news that Jamie Foxx will also appear in the movie as Electro, the villain from 2014’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2. This means that the least three different incarnations of Spider-Man will be represented in the movie: Tobey Maguire’s, Andrew Garfield’s and Tom Holland’s.
Like a chained reaction Sony and Marvel is incorporating further members in the casting crew. It is said that Sony and Marvel don’t want to bring back just Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield as Peter Park but Kirsten Dunst as MJ and Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy as well. This in fact makes the upcoming Spider-Man Franchise a multi starred enterprise!
Tom Holland will be leading the sequel as the MCU’s version of Peter Parker. Confirmed to be coming back alongside Holland are Zendaya as MJ, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, Tony Revolori as Flash Thompson, and Marisa Tomei as Aunt May. Jon Watts will also return to direct after helming Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home. Benedict Cumberbatch will also appear in the movie to reprise his MCU role as Doctor Strange, perhaps to help set up the multiverse story line, before appearing in his own upcoming sequel Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Spider-Man 3 will be directed by Jon Watts, is currently shooting, and has a December 17, 2021 release date, but with COVID-19 throwing a wrench into pretty much everything, that could change.
