Anthony Fauci, the Top Infectious Disease Official, said Drugmakers is likely to have tens of millions of doses of COVID-19 Vaccine in the early part of next year, he said in a Reuters interview on Wednesday. There could be a billion vaccine doses available by the end of 2021, and the world will be past the pandemic, which will have claimed more than 700,000 lives worldwide by then, with the help of a vaccine.
The US would have hundreds of millions of vaccines by early 2021, said Alex Azar, the US Secretary of Health and Human Services last month. This is only possible because the drugmakers have agreed to manufacture abundant Vaccine supplies by early 2021.
Fauci then said that some parts of the country had done well in containing the spread of the virus, while others were “on fire.” Billions of dollars are being spent on Vaccine being produced by companies including Johnson & Johnson, Moderna Inc, and Pfizer, Novavax Inc and Sanofi SA.

Fauci on “Shutdown Mode”
Fauci says that he does not think the United States will have to go back into “shutdown mode” to contain the spread COVID-19. He believes that rather than going shut down, he prefers using preventive measures like wearing masks, keeping social distance, and washing hands. “We can do much better without locking down,” he said at an event hosted by Harvard University.
Fauci on Vaccine Timing
“We have assurances, and I’ve discussed this with the regulatory authorities, that they promise that they are not going to let political considerations interfere with a regulatory decision,” Fauci said.
The death toll has gone above 157,000 in the US from COVID-19, and reported positive cases are over 4.7million. A vaccine announcement in October could help Trump’s chances in the coming election.
