International Day of Charity – Gerard Butler: Watch
Gerard Butler has already featured in a new short film called Love Reaches Everywhere. The 30-minute film highlights the work of Mary’s Males (Charity organisation). The film follows the actor as he travels to Liberia and Haiti with Magnus, the founder of Mary’s Males.
On the day of International charity, to encourage everyone to do charity he wrote on Twitter “Hi everyone! As you may have noticed, I’ve taken a bit of a “summer break” from social media. I don’t need to tell you that these are some crazy times we’re living in, and it’s more important than ever to look out for each other. As it’s InternationalDayOfCharity today, what better moment to highlight a cause that I love and have worked with for many years – @MarysMeals, an org founded by a fellow Scotsman! It is never a dull moment getting to spend time with the amazing kids Mary’s Meals serves, and I feel honored to be a part of such an important cause.
So many children around the world rely on their school for daily meals, and even during COVID-19, Mary’s Meals has made it their mission to link food to education and help these students get fed. It’s so much more than just meals! In this uncertain time, I encourage you to do some digging, and if not Mary’s Meals, use this day to find a cause that matters to you. Join me in finding a way to give back, whether it’s with your time, your words, or a small donation. I think it will bring you some peace. Sending love your way.”
Many responded to his words with their blessings and thanking him for his good works. “I don’t think they could have a better spokesman for this charity. Watching the movie and seeing those kids being so grateful and having so little is heartbreaking. No child should have to go hungry and I am more than happy to help this cause. Thank you, Mr Gerard Butler, and stay” one of his Twitter followers commented.
