It’s happy news for the Indian Film world. Another Indian actor is being a part of Hollywood. Tamil actor Dhanush is cast to Russo Brothers “The Gray Man”. Earlier the actor had played the lead role in the film The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir (2018).
Dhanush, the only Indian star on the cast so far, will be joining actors Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jessica Henwick, Wagner Moura, and Julia Butters. The Gray Man is based on American novelist Mark Greaney’s debut novel of the same name, released in 2009.
Dhanush revealed the news at Twitter as “Elated to announce that I will be joining the team of Netflix’s ‘The Gray Man’ starring Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans, directed by The Russo Brothers (‘Avengers’, ‘Captain America: Winter Soldier’). Looking forward to being a part of this wonderful action-packed experience. My sincere thanks to my dearest fans from all over the world for all the love and support you have been showing me throughout these years. Love you all. Spread Love… !”
The Gray Man will be a Netflix adaptation. Reports say that filming will commence early next year and a budget of $200 million has been set aside for this film. It is based on a freelance assassin and former CIA operative who goes on a rescue mission across Europe. Anthony Russo earlier told Deadline, “The movie is a real mano a mano between those two great actors who represent two different versions of the CIA, in what it can be, and what it can do. For those who were fans of Captain America: Winter Soldier, this is us moving into that territory in more of a real-world setting. That’s what this movie really means for us.
Joe Russo added, “The intention is for it to be competitive with any theatrical, and the ability to do with Gosling and Evans is a dream for us. The idea is to create a franchise and build out a whole universe, with Ryan at the centre of it. We have all committed to the first movie, and that’s got to be great to get us to the second movie. These are master assassins, and Gosling’s characters get burned by the CIA and Evans’ character has to hunt him down. We have a great working relationship with Netflix, and we go back almost 20 years with Scott Stuber. We formed AGBO to be an agnostic storytelling company, where we figure out the best platform. We think Netflix is the perfect place for this film.”
The Gray Man is the first Netflix outing of Dhanush, Yet his character details are unknown.
