In the 36th match of IPL 2020 MI vs KXIP, it took too long to find the winner of the match, undergoing two super overs and KXIP won over the defending champions. KXIP is the last team in the points table and now it’s their third victory in the 13th edition IPL.
In the game, Punjab was unable to beat MI’s target of 176. KXIP with the help of skipper Rahul (77 of 51) managed to take only 176 runs. Gayle(24 of 21), Nicholas Pooran (24 of 12) and Hooda(23 of 16) contributed well making the team reach the score. Chris Jordan tried to make a double in the last ball but De Kock was quick enough to lighten the bails and Jordan lost the wicket and the game was pushed to super over.
In the first super over KXIP made the first batting and was only able to score 5 runs losing 2 wickets against MI’s yorker king Bumrah. Pooran and Rahul played in the super over. Pooran was caught by Anukul in his first ball and Hooda joined Rahul. In the last ball, Bumrah took Rahul’s wicket in an LBW. For MI’s innings De Kock and Rohit played and Shami bowled well and didn’t let the Mumbai Indians score well. MI was in need of 2 runs in the last ball to win the super over and De Kock tried for a double but Rahul lightened the stumps and he got out. Match tied again!!
Another super over; MI made the first batting, power hitters Hardik Pandya and Pollard on the crease. Chris Jordan was in duty to bowl. The beginning of the spell was not good as he made a few extras. Also, Pollard stroked him for a boundary, trying for a double Hardik lost the wicket Arshdeep made a stunning throw and Jordan lightened the stumps before Pandya could reach. Pollard tried for a sixer on the last ball but the crazy Mayank stopped it flying over the rope and pushed out the ball resulting in a single of the last ball. MI took 11 in 6 balls.
Second innings of 2nd super over for KXIP Chris Gayle and Mayank Agarwal on crease Trend Boult was in duty for MI. Chris Gayle trashed the first ball of the innings for a sixer, took a single on the next. Agarwal smashed two consecutive balls for boundaries and Punjab won the match by 2 wickets in the second super over.

Earlier for MI Bumrah played good bowling taking 3 wickets, with bat De Kock made his third consecutive half-century. Kock scored (53 of 43 balls), Krunal Pandya (34 of 30 balls), Pollard (34 of 12 balls), Coulter-Nile (24 of 12 balls) also contributed in making a decent score of 176. Skipper HIT-MAN failed before young bowler Arshdeep Singh, he scored 9 of 8 balls. For KXIP Shami, Arshadeep took 2 wickets each, Chris Jordan along with Bishnoi picked one wicket.
