After “BoJack Horseman” Lakeith Stanfield is again being a part of Netflix in their new anime Yasuke. The actor had signed on to lead the voice cast of Yasuke, in which Stanfield portrays the first African samurai of the same name.
Today Lakeith shared this happy news at his Instagram page and captioned it as “Let’s fuckin go. Imma need y’all to capitalize the ‘K’ in my name tho..just a Leo ting. I’m excited. It’s not easy being a samurai 😎”.
In the new project, Lakeith will team up with LeSean Thomas, co-creator of socio-political black comedy, “The Boondocks”. Yasuke will be describing the story of first outsider samurai whose skin is dark from East Africa. Yasuke is only the name that was given to him by the Japanese, as his original name is uncertain. The African samurai is believed to be born in the 1500s. Yasuke wished to live in peace was thrown into battle when a local village becomes the epicentre of warring daimyo and he’s tasked with transporting a mysterious child who’s targeted by dark forces.
Music will be provided by renown music producer The Flying LotusNews of the project was announced during Netflix’s Anime Festival in Japan. The anime is expected to release in 2021. Celebrity friends and followers wish him good luck in the comments.
