Neuralink’s First webcast will be on Friday: Elon Musk

Neuralink is going to demonstrate a Brain-Machine Interface, founded by Elon Musk. The goal of Neuralink is “Human Symbiosis”.The process is being done by implanting electrodes in the human brain with the help of Artificial Intelligence.

A live Neural-activity demonstration is planned as well as an update on the status of the human trials in 2020. Musk had recently tweeted “will show neuron firings in real-time”, and that event is going to happen on 28th August 2020, Friday at 3 pm pacific.

Elon Musk’s Neuralink, the secretive company developing brain-machine interfaces, showed off some of the technology it has been developing to the public for the first time. The goal is to eventually begin implanting devices in paralyzed humans, allowing them to control phones or computers.

The first big advance is flexible “threads,” which are less likely to damage the brain than the materials currently used in brain-machine interfaces. These threads also create the possibility of transferring a higher volume of data, according to a white paper credited to “Elon Musk & Neuralink.” The abstract notes that the system could include “as many as 3,072 electrodes per array distributed across 96 threads.”THINNER THAN A HUMAN HAIR“.

The threads are 4 to 6 μm in width, which makes them considerably thinner than a human hair. In addition to developing the threads, Neuralink’s other big advance is a machine that automatically embeds them.

Elon Musk believes that hooking our brains up to computers can help humans overcome disabilities and injuries and eventually compete with ever-smarter artificial intelligence. The billionaire said earlier that his startup Neuralink will show off an update to its developing brain-computer interface technology later this year that will be in a word, “awesome”.

Earlier, Musk said that tech had allowed a monkey to control a computer with its brain in tests and that he hoped “aspirationally” to have the device in a human patient with brain or spinal cord injuries, or congenital defects.

So for the technical world, Friday will be a great day, everyone is expecting to see the live demonstration with the direct transformation of signals to the brains and thus controlling the devices. The development of Neuralinks will surely bring up a revolution in the field of Brain-Machine Interfaces. Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning will be having a prior role in Neuralink Technology.
