“A woman who doesn’t wear perfume has no future.”- Coco Chanel
Even Though this is invalid and sexist remark in this era, perfume is still considered a luxury rather than a necessity. But it’s not. When things play prominent roles in life, they aren’t luxury anymore though the parts of us.
Sometimes we might forget the face of a person, name, even the complete details regarding that person, though we could still feel how that person smells. Just like vision, sound, touch – odor can also be registered with your memory. When you find a similar scent somewhere else, your brain alerts you with bringing the same smell instincts into consciousness with all possible outcomes from the brain’s log. Fragrance says a lot about the person who is wearing it. The mood, the character, con artists around the world, use perfumes smell as an indication to predict characteristic features. The choice of the perfume’s concentration is also an essential factor while representing yourself. What are the favorite flavors of the world??
Before jumping into that based on the concentrations, scents are divided into three. The highest concentration of the perfume is called the parfum or cologne. This smells very thick and lasts longer, even after multiple laundries the smells stay, most of the time the cologne lingers. These aren’t water-soluble. Most likely, they are essential oils and concentrated stains from the raw source. These are higher in the price and the least favorite choice. The second one is relatively less concentrated perfume. They are water-soluble and come along with alcoholic or mist solvent. Affordable and a wide variety of options are available in the perfume category. The third one is the widely used eau de toilette. These are purely alcoholic or water. The smells won’t last long, and it comes in the traditional spray bottle.
Notes In Perfumes
There are three notes for every perfume, top, heart, and base.
The top note is the surface fragrance of the perfume. Top notes are often referred to as the headnotes in perfumery. Just like the name suggests, the perfume’s title is defined by the high notes. They are the first to detect and first to disappear in the olfactory notes. The span of a top note is five to fifteen minutes.
The heart note of the perfumery is the core of that whole orchestration. This appears to be introductory to the base note, usually lasting for twenty to sixty minutes after the application. The heart of the fragrance makes up 70% of the perfume.
Base notes are the least volatile note, and they are composed of large and heavy molecules that evaporate the rearmost. This indicates that they last the longest of all the notes. Their pure scent can take an hour or more to put in action and can last from a day to several days. Base notes won’t feel the same unless they are headed by the heart notes. The direct infusion of the heart smells can’t be pleasant. The scents we smell on our clothes, footwear are examples of direct base notes.
Botanically citrus fruits are not just lemons. Any fruits which contain citric acid can be called citrus in nature. The fragrance’s volatile nature makes them less favorable in the men’s fragrance, even though they are used to blend with the florals and the orientals widely.
