As one of the first titles showcased from Sony’s next-gen lineup, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart has been one of the earliest titles to showcase the enhanced hardware features of the PS5. Rift Apart is indeed “a PS5 exclusive.” It will not be available on PS4, making it a true-blue next-gen game.
Replying to a question on Twitter, the official Insomniac Games answered that their latest entry in the PlayStation franchise will only be coming to PS5. Considering all the features, it makes sense that those mechanics might require the speed of the SSD that isn’t present in Sony’s older consoles. Earlier Sony revealed later this year that several of its other upcoming first-party titles like Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Sackboy: A Big Adventure, and Horizon Forbidden West would be cross-gen releases also coming to the PS4.
With this update, it’s sure that Rift Apart will be coming up with some serious graphical improvements that can only be managed in the new PS5 console. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart has a 60 FPS mode on PS5, which also implies a lower FPS mode that prioritizes graphics. Insomniac Games confirmed earlier this year that Rift Apart would be released as a “launch window” title for the PS5, though the developer has yet to share a specific release date or window for it. The PS5 launches next week on November 12.
Rift Apart will come sometime in early 2021. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is currently in development for PS5 and expected sometime within the system’s launch window.
