Sean John Combs, also known by the stage names Puff Daddy, P. Diddy, Puffy, or Diddy, is the rap god in America, as well as a singer, songwriter, record producer, record executive, entrepreneur, and actor. Combs was born in New York City but was raised in Mount Vernon, New York. His mother, Janice (Smalls), was a model and teacher’s assistant, and his father, Melvin Earl Combs, served in the U.S. Air Force and was an associate of convicted New York drug dealer Frank Lucas.
At age 33, Melvin (Diddy’s Dad) was shot to death while sitting in his car on Central Park West, when Combs was 2 years old. According to reports, Diddy’s mother raised him as a single mother after his father was killed. He grew up in Harlem and Mt. Vernon, New York, and attended high school in the Bronx. At the time, she worked four jobs to support the family, the rapper revealed.

Combs’ debut album, No Way Out (1997), has been certified seven times platinum. This was followed by several albums later which were highly popular.
