Tonight, when the show is to celebrate the 100th episode of Superstore, the news about Ferrera’s exit has dwindled the lights of celebration. Fan-favourite actress America Ferrera was initially meant to leave Superstore in the season 5 finale.However, after production on the series was significantly affected by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, it was decided that she would remain at Superstore until the 100th episode this evening.
The actress shared about her decision to leave the show via her official Instagram Post a couple of hours ago.
“5 years. 100 episodes. And it all comes down to tonight. My final episode of @nbcsuperstore airs tonight at 8/7c. While this goodbye is bittersweet, enjoy this episode while we hopefully wait for news of another goodbye. Along with this she also added yet another post where she expressed her desire to come live for her fans to celebrate the 100th episode of Superstore. As far as the reasons behind her bidding farewell to the show, she said “As I start the next chapter for my family and career, I wish only the best, and much continued success, to my beloved Superstore family.” – via Instagram.
Recently she has begun a new venture with Alicia Keys and Kerry Washington entitled as ‘Every Vote Counts – A Celebration of Democracy’ in connection with the US Elections 2020. Also the latest reports state that Ferrera does not have any upcoming film or television projects.But a second season of the hit Netflix series ‘Gentefied’, which Ferrera is an executive producer and director of, is expected to return in 2021.
However, the Superstore fans are highly disappointed about Amy, their favorite Superstore star leaving store 1217 as she climbs up the Cloud 9 management ladder, creating an irreplaceable void.
