Jamie Dornan, best remembered through his name as ‘Christian Grey’, recently became more personal in conveying about his weak side as an actor. The fans were left flabbergasted at his strange revelation being diffident in playing his role as a lonely and socially-awkward farmer opposite Emily Blunt in his latest movie ‘Wild Mountain Thyme’. He also revealed about the struggles that he had encountered while he was performing his eponymous role as ‘Christian Grey’ in ‘the epic movie ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’.
Although he is famously known for his role as the wealthy BDSM-loving protagonist in the Fifty Shades franchise, Dornan recently said he shares a “lack of confidence,” with the character of his new film, as per a latest news report. “What I share with (the character Anthony) is I’d say probably a lack of confidence and a total not at all sort of self-belief. I understand that part of him,” says the actor.
Dornan also shared that he found shooting the film in his home country Ireland. “I did also have an idea growing up (in Ireland) that there was more. I never felt like it’s all about Ireland but I am such a proud Irishman and I love it. I love the land. I love going home. But I always sort of felt that there was more beyond those waters,” he added.
Jamie Dornan opens about his ‘lack of confidence’!
Fans of the ‘Fifty Shades movies’ were taken aback by the very different kind of romance Jamie Dornan fronts in ‘Wild Mountain Thyme’. There’s a more inhibited and eccentric quality about his character, Anthony Reilly. It’s from the viewpoint of his ‘Wild Mountain Thyme’ character that he examines his differences from Christian Grey. In his words: ‘He’s much more relatable to me than Christian Grey. Oftentimes, I felt quite uncomfortable, being very honest with you, playing Christian Grey. I felt like it was very far away from me, and sometimes, I struggled with it. With Anthony, I just knew really early on I need to embody this guy, and it felt like someone I wanted to be close to. There was no distance there… It’s cool to know that you can play a romantic lead that is very different from the more widely known romantic lead you played’.
The statement that he got more cozy with his character as ‘Anthony Rilley’ a layman farmer who is shy and introvert as opposed to Christian Grey has left is fans bemused.
This recent revelation made by the actor prompted the audience to carry out a reality check on his role as ‘Christian Grey’ which in fact caricatures a headstrong male character who is driven by his physical passion and requirements. Considering what Jamie has said recently doesn’t make ring a bell in his fans because never ever have they felt a discrepancy in his role as ‘Christian Grey’. Such is his acting versatility.
As far as “Wild Mountain Thyme” is concerned, Dornan shares the screen with Emily Blunt, Christopher Walken, and Jon Hamm. The film, written and directed by Oscar-winner John Patrick Shanley is currently in theaters and available to stream on various digital platforms, including Amazon Prime Video, iTunes, Vudu, and Google Play.
