Florian Zeller’s drama “The Father,” starring Anthony Hopkins and Olivia Colman, was set to be released by Sony Pictures Classics in New York and Los Angeles on Dec. 18. But now the release is extended to a couple of months. February 26th 2021 is the new date.
The movie takes us through the life of A man who refuses all assistance from his daughter as he ages. As he tries to make sense of his changing circumstances, he begins to doubt his loved ones, his own mind and even the fabric of his reality. Written by Zeller and Christopher Hampton, “The Father” also stars Mark Gatiss, Rufus Sewell, Imogen Poots and Olivia Williams.
“I don’t need her or anyone else,” he declares. “I can manage very well on my own.”
With COVID-19 cases on the rise and many movie theatres closing, Sony Pictures has announced new release dates for three upcoming films. One of them is “The Father” the other two are “The Truffle Hunters” and “I Carry You With Me”.
“The Truffle Hunters,” directed by Gregory Kershaw and Michael Dweck, has also been delayed from its original Christmas Day release to March 12, 2021. Heidi Ewing’s feature debut, “I Carry You With Me,” has also been pushed back. Originally meant to release on Jan. 8, 2021, the film is now eyeing a spring 2021 release.
