Wonder Woman 3 is officially happening with director Patty Jenkins and star Gal Gadot returning. Princess Diana’s Wonder Woman 1984 is currently running successfully. Warner Bros. officially announced Wonder Woman 3 just two days after Wonder Woman 1984 hit theatres and HBO Max.

Warner Bros. chief Toby Emmerich said in a statement: “As fans around the world continue to embrace Diana Prince, driving the strong opening weekend performance of Wonder Woman 1984, we are excited to be able to continue her story with our real-life Wonder Woman – Gal and Patty – who will return to conclude the long-planned theatrical trilogy”.

Currently, we are not having any idea what Jenkins will be delivering in WW3. Jenkins has previously discussed setting the third movie in the present day, finally bringing her Diana closer in time with that seen in Batman vs Superman and Justice League. a potential plot point in Wonder Woman 3 could be Diana searching for and finding Asteria, the lost warrior who saved the Amazons from being enslaved by humans centuries ago. Even the post-credits of Wonder Woman 1984 hints Asteria is alive.

Patty Jenkins teased that Cheetah a.k.a. Barbara Minerva could make a comeback in a potential Wonder Woman 3. Cheetah is played by Kristen Wiig in Wonder Woman 1984, which sees her team up with Pedro Pascal’s Maxwell Lord. The Dreamstone helped her to transform into a high-powered apex predator from an overlooked museum worker.

Jenkins had recently told EW a few short days before her return was announced that she had two more stories planned for the films. Jenkins says that these two stories will bring about the completion of the series. In her comments, Jenkins emphasized the main themes of her Wonder Woman films and the way they encompass a more loving and kind vision for the superheroes involved.

“The story continues after this in movies that I may or may not direct. I have two more stories that become the completion of this story and it’s all about women stepping in as women, in the most loving, kind, pure and natural way. And making a difference in the world without having to change who they are to do it.”- Says, Jenkins. This brings out a hint to Wonder Woman 4.

It’s not sure when to expect the movies as Both Jenkins and Gadot have very busy schedules coming up between Cleopatra and Star Wars: Rogue Squadron.
