‘Bridgerton Season 1’ released in accordance with Christmas 2020, is successfully enjoying its maiden run via Netflix! After its release on Friday, by Saturday, it cracked Netflix’s Top 10 most-watched movies and series. It is currently holding steady at No. 2, right behind George Clooney’s space pic The Midnight Sky. What is so special in the series ‘Bridgerton’? Will there be a ‘Bridgerton Season 2’? Let us find out!
Based on Julia Quinn’s novels, Bridgerton follows 19th century heroine Daphne (Younger‘s Phoebe Dynevor), the oldest daughter of the powerful Bridgerton family, as she seeks a husband in Regency London. All the while, Daphne and her potential suitors live under gossip dame Lady Whistledown (Julie Andrews) omniscient scrutiny. Daphne finally meets her match in bad-boy-bachelor-with-daddy-issues Duke of Hastings. The two feign mutual disinterest, but sparks soon fly.
‘Bridgerton Season 2’: Release Date and Plot details are out now!
After watching the new Shonda Rhimes-produced series, one could easily find out the fact that somewhere down the line, it is a powerful blend of Gossip Girl-meets-Pride & Prejudice-meets-a little Fifty Shades of Grey vibes. The cliffhanger end with which ‘Bridgerton Season 1’ winded up its 8 long episodes has thrown a dexterous question mark before us regarding Lady Whistle down. The fans are eager enough to know more about the true identity of ‘Lady Whistledown’ in ‘Bridgerton Season 2’. But when?
As per the latest news, there’s no official word yet on a second season of Bridgerton, but that’s not a reason to lose hope. The series is the first at Netflix for producer Shonda Rhimes (who signed a reported $150 million deal with the streamer in 2017), and many of her best-known shows—like Scandal and How to Get Away with Murder—have run for multiple seasons. According to these updates, hopefully we shall wait for ‘Bridgerton Season 2’ and definitely our wait shall be fruitfully answered.
Now coming to the plot, the series has made its maximum to stick on to the Novel series owing its justice to the author. Considering this fact, while the first book, ‘The Duke & I’, centers around Daphne Bridgerton and her relationship with Simon, the Duke of Hastings, the second book in the series, ‘The Viscount Who Loved Me’, has a different focus: Anthony Bridgerton. The character of Kate Sheffield did not appear in Season 1 of Bridgerton. Rather, Anthony only had eyes for the opera singer Siena Rosso (Sabrina Bartlett). While the Season 1 finale seemed to pretty definitively end that affair, I wouldn’t count Siena out of Anthony’s life just yet. Either way, Bridgerton Season 2 will no doubt have a much broader focus than Anthony and his love life.
Keep all your senses open and stay tuned for more latest updates!
